SUMMARY:Say the Names\, monthly Interfaith Memorial Prayer Service
DESCRIPTION:Join HHROC volunteers and community residents from all over Orange County every month a Zoom Interfaith Memorial Prayer Service to remember those who died in Orange County without-fixed-abode the previous month. \nMEMORIAL: to recognize and “Say the Names” of all the people who died “Without Fixed Abode”\, throughout Orange County\, according to the monthly OC Sheriff-Coroner report. \nNOTE: We know that the deaths the OC Sheriff-Coroner reports is regularly understated because the unhoused who died in hospital\, jail\, shelters\, supportive & transitional housing\, and whose bodies were claimed by family are not included in the count of people who died without-fixed-abode.

SUMMARY:The Longest Night - "Say The Names"
DESCRIPTION:  \nPlease mark your calendar to join HHROC\, OC organizations\, and community members in our annual event to “Saying the Names” to remember and memorialize the hundreds of unhoused people who died on the streets of Orange County while trying to survive living outdoors (without-fixed-abode) throughout Orange County. \nIt’s important to know that the OC Sheriff-Coroner reports the names of those who died without-fixed-abode; however\, the reports of the unhoused who died are substantially underreported. the names of those who died while in a hospital\, shelter\, jail\, supportive & transitional housing\, and whose bodies were claimed by a family member are not included in the OC Sheriff-Coroner report. \nWe believe that everyone life should be recognized and remembered; especially\, because they belonged and were part of our Orange County community. The idea that the OC Sheriff-Coroner regularly fails to recognize or include their names is unacceptable. \nThe measure of a healthy society is not its wealth\, power\, or leadership\, but its willingness to care for one another. \nVisit HHROC at: https://housingisahumanrightoc.org/events/
